This study addresses the creation of seismic vulnerability functions on a building-specific basis, accounting for the unique structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of the building. The study also develops a risk management decision procedure that uses the building-specific vulnerability function. The procedure applies Monte Carlo methods to simulate ground motion, structural response, assembly damage, repair costs, and repair duration. The methodology is illustrated using a realistic example office building.
