ObjectivesDetermine the fundamental characteristics of a self-restoring friction damper by (a) component testing (b) testing its behavior as part of a frame.
AbstractThis paper introduces the fundamental characteristics of a new type of friction damper and describes some experiments of the damper itself and a frame with a damper under static and dynamic loading. The friction dampers are used in the highrise building in order to decrease horizontal displacements caused by earthquakes.
