ObjectivesTo determine the dynamic characteristics of elastomeric bearings with and without a lead plug at applied horizontal loading frequencies higher (up to 2.2Hz) than previous tests on this type of bearing.
AbstractVarious seismic isolation systems have been recently studied to advance the feasibility of Fast Breeder Reactors, especially those of the pool type Fast Breeder Reactor which has a thin cylindrical shell of a large diameter as a reactor vessel. This study was carried out as one of these activities. This paper deals with the dynamic test plug. Many researchers have been studying laminated rubber bearings but most of these studies treat only static test. Therefore, the dynamic test results, that is, the frequency response for higher exciting frequency, behaviors at large deformation and recovery characteristics are hardly available. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics and advantages of a laminated rubber bearing with or without lead plug are reported and discussed.
