Development and Classification of Passive Earthquake Protective Systems

PROSYS Logo

This page outlines the various types of components that are represented in the current PROSYS database. At this time, only passive earthquake protective systems have been included - active, semi-active, and hybrid active/passive systems.

The primary distinction used in defining the hierarchy of types of components is between bearings and dampers. Bearings are categorized as any elements which support vertical load; all other components are considered dampers.
