Help: PDF Display Problems

Problem: Your browser displays a blank screen or reports "The file is damaged and cannot be repaired."

Solution: Download the file to your hard drive.

  1. Login first.
  2. Search for the document you want to download.
  3. Right click on the link to the PDF. (Or click and hold your mouse button on the link.)
  4. Your browser should present you with a drop-down menu.
  5. Choose "Save [Target] As" to download the PDF to your local hard drive.
  6. Once the download is complete, you can use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and print the document.

Solution: Disable "Display PDF in Browser" in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

  1. Acrobat 6 or 7: Edit/Preferences/Internet/Display PDF in Browser. (Uncheck this option.)
  2. Restart your computer if prompted to do so.
  3. Click the link to the PDF: You will see a dialog box to open the file with Acrobat or save it to disk.
  4. Choose "Open" and the file will open in a new window.

Additional Resources

When printing files, be sure to check "print as image" when the print options screen appears. Otherwise, the pages may not print correctly.

Help: Image Display Problems

Problem: Your browser displays a blank screen when you view an image OR you are able to save images only as bitmaps.

Login first. If you have entered your member name and password correctly and the login screen reappears, try refreshing the page in your browser.

Help: Credit Card Payments

After you complete the form on this web site, you will be forwarded to UC Berkeley's secure payment system to enter your credit card information. After submitting your payment information, you will be returned to this site.

If your payment was processed successfully, you will see a confirmation message, including your username and password. You will also receive confirmation by email. If your transaction failed for any reason, you will see an error message.

Do not use the Back button on your browser during the payment steps. If you have any questions about the status of your membership or need a second copy of your receipt, contact the EERC Library.
