Analytical procedures in soil dynamics

The 1978 state-of-the-art of soil dynamics analysis is reviewed. A classification system is suggested for soil dynamics response problems, and a discussion is given of the current ability and future possibilities for solving different types of problems. Special attention is given to the possibilities for nonlinear and effective stress analysis of seismic problems. Major topics discussed are foundation vibrations, pile vibrations, seismic site response problems, and soil-structure interaction.
