The objective of this investigation was to determine the effect of type of aggregate on the degree of shrinkage and the tendency towards cracking of a typical concrete mix that might be employed in the construction of reinforced concrete buildings. Continued mixing and retempering of concrete was included in this study to evaluate its effects on degradation of aggregates and on shrinkage and cracking of concrete. A limited study on the effect of air entrainment on shrinkage and cracking characteristics is also included.
