The differential equations governing the small deflections of a sandwich shell are developed from the Hellinger-Reissner variational theorem. The facings are thin anisotropic Kirchhoff-Love shells with different physical properties and thicknesses. The core is considered a 3-dimensional orthotropic medium which can only resist transverse shear and normal stresses. Representative equations for a sandwich shell with a viscoelastic core are displayed.
