Finite Element Solution of Axisymmetrical Dynamic Problems of Shells of Revolution

A finite element solution for the natural frequencies and mode shapes of free axisymmetrical vibrations and the dynamic response of arbitrary rotationally symmetric shells is presented. Illustrative examples include analysis of a shallow spherical cap subjected to axisymmetrical pressure varying with time, a solution for a plate subjected to a time-dependent ring load and an analysis of a dynamic response of a complete sphere.
