The finite element method using a displacement model is employed to analyze the behavior of elastic-plastic shells of revolution under axisymmetric loading. Both perfectly plastic and work hardening materials are treated. The solution is based on the use of a new curved element which can take specified slopes and curvatures as its nodal circles.
