The report presents the study of the behavior of tall, guyed masts under the action of turbulent winds. A study of cables is first presented. A mathematical model in the form of interconnected cable elements is shown to describe adequately the behavior of guy cables under arbitrary loading conditions. A finite element guyed mast model comprised of one dimensional cable elements and beam column elements, connected to form a two dimensional structural assemblage is used in a computer study of the static and dynamic behavior of guyed mast systems. A comparison between deterministic and nondeterministic responses is made.
