The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchiveDispersion of Cylindrical Waves in a Viscoelastic BodyMcNiven, Hugh D.; Mengi, Yalçin UCB/SESM-1969/24, Dept. of Civil Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, 1969-12, 28 pages (500/C23/69/24) The problem studied involves a body of infinite extent through which runs an infinitely long cylindrical hole of circular cross section. The material of the body is viscoelastic which is modeled in the study as a standard solid. The problem is that of finding the response in the body to a uniform pressure against the surface of the hole that has an arbitrary dependence on time.
