Quasilinearization and Nonlinear Volterra Integral Equations: I Computation of Creep Deflections of Metal Structures

A quasilinearization technique is developed to treat nonlinear integro-differential equations encountered in a variety of problems involving metal structures undergoing creep deformations. To illustrate the quasilinearization approach to this kind of functional equations, an example involving the computation of the lateral deflections of an axially loaded imperfect bar is developed and thoroughly investigated.
