UCB/SESM-1970/11, Dept. of Civil Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, 1970-08, 167 pages (500/C23/70/11)

Finite element analysis of a type of joint consisting of two smaller diameter tubes welded to a larger diameter tube in the form of the letter K is presented. The structure is discretized by triangular and quadrilateral shell elements having five degrees of displacement freedom per node. Substructuring is used in the analysis in order to minimize the computational effort.
