Solidification of Portland Cement

Solidification of materials is introduced and the constitution and hydration of portland cement is reviewed. Using electron micrographic scanning of fracture surfaces potential flaws and stress concentrators within cement paste are identified and their effects on mechanical properties of cement are discussed.
