Finite Element Analysis of Nonlinear Membrane Structures

A method for numerical analysis of lightweight membrane structures is developed and a computer application of the method is outlined. The class of structures considered includes prestressed shapes and inflated and hydrostatically loaded membranes. The membrane materials are assumed to be either linearly elastic or to have uniform tension properties of a soap film.
