Some Methods for the Analysis of Equipment-Structure Interaction

The report presents numerical methods to simplify the analysis of light equipment - heavy structure systems. In particular, two differential equations are derived. One equation takes advantage of a simple relationship between the mode shape vectors of the equipment - structure system and those of its components, which holds when the interacting natural frequencies of the equipment and structure are "isolated" from the other natural frequencies of the equipment and the structure. The other equation is applicable when this condition is not satisfied.
