The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchiveAn Elasto-Plastic Analysis of Reissner-Mindlin PlatesPapadopoulos, Panayiotis; Taylor, Robert L. UCB/SEMM-1989/26, Dept. of Civil Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, 1989-12, 35 pages (500/C23/89/26) A finite element analysis of elasto-plastic Reissner-Mindlin plates is presented. The discrete field equations are derived from a nonlinear version of the Hu-Washizu variational principle. Associative plasticity, including linear hardening, is employed by means of a generalized von Mises type yield function. A predictor - corrector scheme is used to integrate the plastic constituitive rate equations. Numerical simulations are conducted for a series of test problems to illustrate performance of the formulation. Available online: http://nisee.berkeley.edu/documents/SEMM/SEMM-89-26.pdf (2 MB) |
