Modal Properties and Equipment Response of an Equipment-Continuous Structure System

An efficient method for the dynamic analysis of an equipment structure system, modeled here as a simply supported beam to which some concentrated masses are attached is developed. A numerical example shows that the modal properties of the combined system and the maximum response of the equipment obtained by the proposed method is in good agreement with the results obtained from a direct numerical integration of the governing equation of motion.
