Three-Node Triangular Elements Based on Reissner-Mindlin Plate Theory

A finite element algorithm for the solution of plate bending problems which include the primary effects of shearing deformation is presented. A mixed variational formulation is employed to approximare a set of three-node triangular elements. Several numerical simulations illustrate the applicability and accuracy of the elements considered.
