The report reviews classical plasticity and visco-plasticity models and generalized plasticity and visco-plasticity models, discusses their numerical implementation in the framework of a return mapping algorithm; addresses a simple and efficient approach for the construction of the consistent tangent matrix for an associative J2 material model including both isotropic and kinematic hardening mechanisms.
