Analysis of soil-structure interaction effects on building response from earthquake strong motion recordings at 58 sites

This report was prepared as part of a project which investigated the effects of soil-structure interaction (SSI) on seismic structural response using strong motion data from 58 sites. Presented here are site conditions, modal parameters evaluated from system identification analyses, and comparisons of empirically determined SSI effects with predictions from simplified analytical formulations. It is not the purpose of this report to provide detailed description of the analytical procedures nor to interpret the cumulative results from all the sites; these discussions are provided in a companion report (Stewart, 1996).
