Presents a detailed field study involving the insertion of a full-scale, closed-ended pipe pile driven in a fairly uniform deposit of Young Bay Mud (California). Field instrumentation included piezometers and inclinometers. Monitoring after pile installation included measurement of pore pressure, inclinometer deflections and shear wave velocity using the OYO suspension logging technique.
