Expert systems approach to regional evaluation of debris flow hazard

This report presents a knowledge-based database management system, which automates a regional evaluation of debris flow hazard. The program developed automates a wide range of sequential knowledge-based processing tasks ranging from data input, database creation and data reduction, to statistical computations, plotting and map generation. Two unique features of the system are a) its ability to include the user in the decision-making process and b) flexibility to perform selective processing of data by user.
