The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchiveUnderground bulk storage of hydrogen in mined cavernsLindblom, Ulf E.; Goodall, David C.; Brekke, Tor L. UCB/GT-84-13, University of California, Berkeley, Geotechnical Engineering, 1984-08, PDF (9.1 MB) The state of knowledge for the potential storage of hydrogen underground in excavated caverns, as a pressurized gas or as a cryogenic liquid is reviewed in this feasibility study. Such installations specific to hydrogen have not been constructed to date although pressurized hydrogen gas has been stored in a gas field and in solution cavern in salt. Pertinent experience and information gained from cavern storage of gases other than hydrogen is documented. Available online: http://library.eerc.berkeley.edu/documents/GEOTECH/UCB-GT-84-13.pdf |
