The studies described in this report were conducted to develop practical, rational, design tools in the form of equations and charts that can be used to evaluate the improvement in stability that will result from the use of geogrid mattresses, also called stone-filled mattresses or foundation mattresses that are used to improve the stability of embankments built over soft soils.
