The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchivePseudo-Dynamic Experiment on One-Story RC Structure With and Without Masonry InfillElkhoraibi, Tarek M.; Mosalam, Khalid M. Proceedings of the 8th U.S. National Conference on Earthquake Engineering, San Francisco, California, USA, Paper No. 1470, 2006, PDF (936 KB) A pseudo-dynamic experiment is conducted on reinforced concrete frame structures with and without unreinforced masonry infill wall. The development of on-line test procedure including idealization of the test structures, the formulation of governing equations of motion, the identification of different parameters, and the implementation of hybrid testing algorithms is illustrated. The results of the first phase of testing, corresponding to a parallel shake-table experiment, are presented and the observed structural behavior is evaluated. Furthermore, a new mixed formulation implicit algorithm is introduced, along with its application on the test structure. Finally, the effect of the testing rate in the pseudo-dynamic experiment is evaluated in terms of the associated experimental errors.
