This guide to the University of California, Berkeley, campus seismic projects provides a building case study for major projects with a technical explanation of the engineering problems encountered and the decisions involved in the final retrofit strategy. Some projects are documented in the guide but not fully described. The guide attempts to integrate a discussion of engineering solutions with the factors peculiar to the problems of teaching, research, and housing at UC Berkeley.
