Simplified procedures for the evaluation of settlements in sands due to earthquake shaking

Previous studies on the settlement of sands induced by earthquake shaking are reviewed. Available information concerning settlement is summarized. Simplified methods to predict earthquake-induced settlement in both saturated and unsaturated clean sands are proposed.
