Earthquake simulation tests and associated studies of a 1/5th-scale model of a 7-story R/C frame-wall test structure

This report summarizes the research conducted at U.C. Berkeley. Besides describing these studies, the report has the following main objectives: (1) to evaluate the results of these studies and discuss the degree of correlation between the experimental response of the full-scale model tested in Japan and the 1/5th-scale model tested at Berkeley and the correlation between the analytically predicted and experimental responses; (2) to assess the states of art and practice of seismic-resistant design and construction of reinforced concrete frame-wall structures in light of this evaluation; and (3) to formulate recommendations for improvement in the states of the practice and art.
