The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchiveExperimental and analytical predictions of the mechanical characteristics of a 1/5-scale model of a 7-story R/C frame-wall building structureAktan, Ahmet E.; Bertero, Vitelmo V.; Chowdhury, Abed A.; Nagashima, T. UCB/EERC-83/13, Earthquake Engineering Research Center, University of California, Berkeley, 1983-06, 133 pages (515/A39/1983) This report documents an investigation, carried out by the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Research Program, of the mechanical characteristics of a reinforced concrete frame-wall structure. The preliminary series of static and dynamic tests was performed in Japan to measure the flexibility, frequency, and damping characteristics of a frame-wall structure while the associated analytical work was conducted at UC Berkeley. The global flexibility, fundamental frequency, and damping characteristics of the full-scale structure were simulated successfully. Procedure and results are described in detail.
