The Earthquake Engineering Online ArchiveImplementation manual for the seismic protection of laboratory contents: format and case studiesHolmes, William T.; Comerio, Mary C. PEER-2003/12, Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center, University of California, Berkeley, 2003, 1 vol. (400/P33/2003-12) Previous work at the University of California at Berkeley identified the presence of a wide variety of equipment, tanks, material storage systems, and experimental setups in campus laboratories. Different physical conditions in the labs of each building significantly affected the details. To maintain an ongoing and effective seismic restraint program for contents in labs, each building requires a "user's manual" that takes into account variations in contents, and the capacities of structural and nonstructural members to support the required restraints.
